Going Your Own Way

Since the young ladies in my community admired Beyoncé and Rihanna instead of phenomenal women such as Coretta Scott King, Rosa Parks, and Michelle Obama I wanted nothing to do with them. It was as though the true nature and character of black women had fallen. The most popular trends were bad bitches and short-shorts. I could've blamed people in countless areas if I wanted to from the media, to the schools, to even the parents. Unfortunately pointing fingers wasn't possible.

Seeing innocent young ladies lower their moral standards wasn't a pretty sight at all. Competing with another chick to see who can twerk the best became the new model of what being a real women was. Come to think of it this harsh reality has become a norm for this generation of young women. If any of them get what they what they have gotten than so be it. Giving your love to a person that doesn't mean well can end in distress. One would think that a guy such as myself would attract a young lady or two but nope I was considered a "lame" and a "nerd."

As usual the thugs, jocks, and no-goods had the best luck with the ladies. Being an observer more than a speaker I knew that there was something irregular about this relation between male and female. knowing and seeing this was troubling and tormenting. Not being able to receive advice or find answers made this canceric situation even worst. From this point onward I knew not a damn thing would be the same. To save my time, my energy, and even stress I took the high road when it related to the opposite sex. I painfully but drastically went my own way.
